Bowen Therapy is a holistic, gentle, hands-on approach to pain relief and healing that can have remarkable results. During a treatment, the Bowen practitioner applies a specific set of subtle movements over muscles, tendons, and nerve bundles which stimulate the nervous system to correct underlying problems and restore balance. What is unique to Bowen is that there are 2 minute (or more) pauses between each series of movements to allow time for the release of the soft tissue and integration of the new information into the nervous system. Sessions are usually done weekly with most conditions responding within 1 to 3 treatments. Bowen is safe for everyone from the very young to the elderly. 85-90% of people respond favourably to Bowen Therapy. People who typically do not respond include heavy smokers or those who have extensive scarring.
