ACM Joins with Regional Partners for World Press Freedom Day

ACM, April 29, 2013 – The Association of Caribbean MediaWorkers will join with the UNESCO office for the Caribbean based in Jamaica in observing World Press Freedom Day at a conference being hosted in Curacao from May 2-5. Seventeen Caribbean countries will be represented.

The conference and workshops will focus on this year’s WPFD theme: “Safe to Speak: Securing Freedom of Expression in All Media.”

There will be panel discussions, roundtables and workshop activities covering the subjects of The Safety of Journalists, Decriminalising Defamation, Voices Against Impunity, Online Safety For Journalists, Community Media and Sustainable Livelihoods in the Caribbean, Reporting Disasters, Science and Sustainable Development and Covering Caribbean Elections.

There will also be a special focus on Quality Journalism Education in the Caribbean.
