Fraser, Fillmore to feature in Suriname
January 3 – Former Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) editor and producer and founding member of the International Freedom of Expression Exchange, Nick Fillmore, and veteran Trinidadian journalist, broadcaster and media trainer, Tony Fraser, will be among international resource persons attending Journalism Week activities in Suriname from January 21-27.
Observances include the launch of a Media Exhibition showcasing the development of media in Suriname and a programme of training on subjects such as Democracy and Journalism, Covering Corruption and Defamation Laws and Censorship.
The event is being organised by the Association of Surinamese Journalists (SVJ) headed by Wilfred Leeuwin, in collaboration with the Association of Caribbean MediaWorkers (ACM).
ACM President, Wesley Gibbings, is also part of the team of resource persons including Surinamese experts such as Carl Breeveld, Rehid Doekie, Edward Troon and Nita Ramcharan.
Suriname’s Vice President, Robert Ameerali will deliver the feature address at the launch
