ACM President Leads TT PM Delegation on IPI Congress 2012
Port of Spain, July 21 – A delegation led by ACM President, Wesley Gibbings, on June 21 held talks with Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, regarding plans for the staging of the 62nd International Press Institute (IPI) World Congress in Port of Spain in 2012.
The delegation included IPI Director, Alison Bethel-McKenzie; IPI Events and Conferences Manager, Michael Kudlak; President of the Trinidad and Tobago Publishers’ and Broadcasters’ Association (TTPBA), Kiran Maharaj and Media Association of Trinidad and Tobago (MATT) Executive, Francesca Hawkins.
At the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed her interest in the Congress and was invited to deliver Opening Remarks at the event.
She was apprised of arrangements being made to ensure the success of the Congress through the work of a Local Organising Committee jointly-chaired by Gibbings and Maharaj and comprising representatives of the ACM, TTPBA, MATT, Convention Bureau of the Tourism Development Company (TDC) and Government Information Services Limited (GISL).
