Re: Passing of Akela Jacobs
The Association of Caribbean Media Workers (ACM) is deeply saddened at the untimely death of journalist Akela Jacobs, 23, who was killed in a road accident while on assignment in Guyana on Saturday night.
Initial reports indicate that Ms Jacobs, who was employed with the National Communications Network (NCN), died after the vehicle in which she and other journalists were travelling, smashed into the back of a sand truck, resulting also in the death of the driver, Terry Tappin.
Ms. Jacobs leaves behind a three-year-old daughter.
